When Garden Village were first founded in 1922 they started playing their football at Swansea League level for a number of years before eventually joining the Carmarthenshire League mid-way through the last century.

After a number of league and cup successes over the years the Village finally won promotion into the Welsh League at the end of the 98/99 season after finishing second in the Premier Division of the Carmarthenshire League.

In their first season of Welsh League football the Village secured promotion by finishing third in Division 3 by just 1 point, and had a cup run which saw them dispose of Pontyclun and Ely in the earlier rounds of the Welsh Cup before being knocked out by then League of Wales side Inter Cardiff 5-0 at Leckwith Stadium.

The Second Division proved to be a much tougher division for the Village as they finished eighth in their first season but secured promotion at the second attempt when they won the Second Division championship at the end of 2001/02 with a 3-2 win in their very last game at Chepstow Town.
